FosterVet.org places homeless dogs and cats into real homes — not kennels. We pay for 100% of veterinary care, food, and supplies. You provide love, a couch, and a second chance.

FosterVet started in 2012 when two shelter vets rented a garage to save 14 parvo puppies nobody else would take. Today we are a network of 680+ volunteer foster homes and 22 partner veterinary clinics.
Unlike traditional shelters, we have no kennels. Every dog and cat lives in a home, learns house manners, gets full medical rehab, and then meets adopters who already know their true personality. That's why our return rate is under 3%.

When you foster, you never open your wallet. Our donors and vet partners cover it all.

Vaccines, spay/neuter, microchip, dental, X-rays, surgeries, emergency care and monthly preventatives. Direct billing to us — you just drive to the appointment.

Crate, bed, premium food, toys, leash, litter, pee pads, and even pet insurance during foster period. Need more? Text us and we restock in 24h.

Choose your mission: bottle-baby kittens, heartworm recovery dogs, shy cats, or hospice seniors. Special stipend + extra vet visits for medical fosters.

Professional photos, listings, meet-and-greets and screening — we handle everything. 42% of fosters become “foster fails” and adopt. We love that.

“We fostered Luna for three weeks. FosterVet paid for her leg surgery ($4,200!) and brought food to our door. She now sleeps on my pillow — we adopted her.”
